I’m sitting I the doctors surgery, waiting for the second time in two weeks for the doctor to tell me very little and I’m guessing, give me some sort of prescription fob off! You see a few weeks ago I somehow injured my foot, I left it a week or so for it to go away before seeing a doctor…which it didn’t… So off I went, in for a couple of minutes, he poked and prodded my foot before ‘here’s some anti inflamatories, come back in two weeks if it still hurts.’ No word of what’s actually wrong! Bloody NHS!
The annoying think is that for the whole time I’m just being fannied about my foot still hurts and I can’t get out taking photos!! At least I’ve only had to walk the 4 miles home a few times in the last couple of weeks! So at least that’s something!

So there’s not a huge amount to report unfortunately this weekend, I had planned a trip to Aida Bliss yesterday (Saturday) but annoying short but frequent heavy spells of rain quite quickly put a stop to that! I did do a quick little reccy on my way home from a night out though which probably wasn’t the best of ideas as it was pretty slippy on the quite high gate, and I went on me tod! Dont think I’m going to be doing that again in a hurry any time soon! But at least the rule of ‘there’s always a way in’ is still being kept alive! I think I’ll try next week!

So the flood defences weren’t really ‘very easily accessible’ as I’d thought before and they were pretty out in the open too! So with the quite substantial risk of being spotted, we still decided to carry on, first of all going to the wrong side, which quite amusingly involving me struggling to get up a relatively small wall! So back round to the other side, a small drop later we were in. Matt and Abi seemed to get in no problem, so it must just have been me! Once we were in though, the excitement grew, after a small amount of prepping the camera and torches, we ventured inside! And much to our surprise, they weren’t too interesting!

There was quite a lot of weird stuff straight out of an alien movie on the Walls, (or like what you see on the majority of streets and doorways of derby city centre after a Friday or Saturday night! Come to think of it, it’s actually after most nights in Derby!)  a couple of strange small handles which i can only presume were used as ladders, and some chains straight out of a saw movie! Oh and it was COMPLETELY pitch black, so thankfully the two £3 ASDA LED torches worked a treat! I was surprised that for the most part it didn’t really smell to bad in there either, given that it was only really rain water it was quite a relief… So after a few minutes of taking some rather unfocused snaps, the tripod came out for some pics of us all. Now i’ve got to say the flash is rather deceptive as it was bounced off the ceiling as it was NOWHERE NEAR as light as the photos made out, you couldn’t see a thing! Which i kind of ignored when using my L Lens as the 10 second self timer didn’t really give me enough time to get to where i needed to be in the photo, so rushing to get there…i made a boo boo. Happily i didn’t fall over, i slipped and ended up putting my hand in something that i have no idea what it was…but at least it wasn’t orange…and it didn’t smell…so every cloud and all that!

The photos that came out were actually okay thanks to the external flash but focusing was a right pain in the backside with everything so difficult to see!

As much as i had made a meal of getting up from the wrong side, i also apparently made a bigger meal of getting up from the right side. Matt and Abi seemed to be quite graceful in what looked like walking up the wall, me however…is a different story… I decided to do a bit more of an adventurous ‘jump’ which ended in my knee smashing into the concrete, with stones…lovely…So a ripped trouser knee later we were out!

In my opinion i don’t really think i’d bother going to visit the tunnels again, unless i end up walking down a couple of miles to see where they end up there isn’t really a huge amount to see apart from the double tunnel split where it just goes to each side of the Markeaton car park! But as a Sunday afternoon mini explore i’m glad i went!

Next week…Aida Bliss! (hopefully)

So for some reason I’ve been up since 7:30 this morning…no idea why, and it’s quite annoying considering it’s a Sunday! But at least I’ve not got a hangover, every cloud and all that! According to all of the weather forecasts about today, I’d been somewhat reliably informed that today was going to be miserable, however by the look of the light flying through my curtains it looks pretty nice! Which means game on for taking some snaps!
I was in town yesterday getting a new camera bag for my trip to Tokyo so I’m not having to constantly faff around with multiple bags just to get my camera out and the dudes in Jessops told me about some cool places around derby to go that I hadn’t thought of before… Little did I know there’s some very easily accessible flood tunnels down by markeaton park mundy play centre, so after I’ve gone to ASDA to get some wellys I’ll be off to explore there, and then (if I can get in) Aida Bliss warehouse in Chester green…. Wish me luck! (i’ll update in another post!
